The worst example of this I've seen was after the launch of Gears of War 2. When you were playing, anytime you saw someone with a rank of 5 (the highest rank at that time) you could pretty much assume that you were going to get lagswitched if your team started winning, and 90% of the time, you'd be right. Since then Epic has "fixed" the game, to auto detect lagswitching, but good lagswitchers can disguise lagswitching as the normal packet lose of having a bad connection. Lag switching is also fairly prevalent in Halo 2, Halo 3, Team Fortress 2, Shadowrun, and many others, although it is less common than what was going on with Gears of War 2. It can actually be done in any online game, because most of the time, if the lagswitcher does it quickly enough, the game won't catch it, thinking that it was just a momentary lag-spike,

Oh don't worry, you think that's bad. Wait till the new MW2 comes out. No one ever wants to take the time to get use to the controls of a new game and really be good at it, they'll use this tech right when the game comes out so that they will "appear" to be better at the game than others and most likely you'll lose. But don't fret, one day you'll beat a lagger, well, maybe. probably not

Microsoft should have been initially allowing it to happen. They could have built up information on where massive amounts of copied games were being played. Since people freely give their info over xbox live, they could track down those people playing, and perhaps supplying, the illegal software. I don't get it.
As far as online cheaters? Let them play, but when the cheating goes on for a little too long, post their addresses so I can go say hi to their moms, proceed to the basement, and punch them in the face. I just want to play a game of halo 3 occasionally--one where I'm not falling from the sky and tanks are flying. |

stealing isn't right and the guys who are modding their consoles just to get 60 dollar games for free deserve some time in jail if you ask me.

they just disc to xbox live and play private games with direct connect to IP # l2pirate
also if you mod it right they'll never know lulz also the fact you use external Hard drives anymore because of it is noobcore elite. you could pay 80 bucks for a 1tb pc harddrive or pay 150 usd for a 120g xbox 360 "PC gaming is dying because of piracy. What? Only the 360 version of MW2 has been on trackers since last week? Absurd!" |

The difference is purchasing that content/subscription is up to the consumer. The piracy hits the industry only in negative ways--most notably the developers, the ones NOT making the massive bucks.

Piracy sucks? Yes ofcourse. But blame MS for making it so easy to do. I've literally flashed an xbox, fully modded it and out the door in 15 minutes . I've still played on Live with no problems as well. I do still buy games but when its hard times like just having a baby for example, i'll cut some corners. At 60 bucks per game, i dont think the developers are hurting. Its also for the impatient people. Playing a game you can't wait for 2 weeks before it drops is nice to get the edge. If anything at all MS might want to speak with Sony since they're console has been out this long and is still unhackable. |

That's no valid reason to justify why to steal from hard working game developers, everything about xbox live is optional you either pay or don't - It's all up to the consumer and in the end if all the consumers were to come together and boycott the xbox live service you would see change, but most won't because they're happy with the service (though I think it's time that we seem Microsoft make their service more open to dedicated servers)

pirates suck and are a parasite to the industry. if you enjoy your hobby you should support it. 99% of pirates are wannabe hackers anyway.
