If you haven't heard, I'm here to tell you. Disney's Gargoyles is back! Remember Gargoyles from the late 90s when it was on the Disney Afternoon? In 2006, creator Greg Weisman has teamed up with Slave Labor Graphics and together they bring us new canon storyline that continues where the show left off. I have included a link to a picture of the first issue and also the cover of the new Trade Paper Back that was released on Wednesday 1/23 which contains the first 6 stories in the Clan Building arc.

I'm a fan of Gargoyles and I make no money off of it. I'm here to spread the word and hopefully get at least one of you to check it out! It takes fans like you and me to keep the series going in comic book form and I need your help to do so.

Even if you're never heard of Gargoyles, you can buy the DVDs, watch re-runs on Toon Disney and get yourself familiarized with it. (You can even check out clips on Youtube.) It's was, is and always will be a great show, and the new storyline is intense, pulls at your heart strings, and impresses. It poses new questions and answers old ones. You'll love it.

So please, give Gargoyles a chance and check it out. The comics and DVDs are available at Amazon, and SLG's website. If you're not interested and know someone who is, that's great, please tell them the news! All I can really ask of you is to help me spread the word. Thank you.

I loved the cartoon! And i heard that the comics would pick up where the toon left off, AND that it would be seriously written and not dumbed down in any way. Kind of like what Joss Whedon is doing with Buffy Season 8. I can't wait to see these.

A real problem with the comic... is that it only comes out once every two months. I know the art isn't that particularly complicated, but it's really aggravating to have to wait so long between issues.

Actually, there isn't a problem because in the off months of the main comic, we have another Gargoyles comic to look forward to: Gargoyles: BAD GUYS. It's a spin off comic that consists of a team led by Robyn Canmore, one of the Hunters, and includes Dingo (formerly of the Pack), Matrix, Yama of the Ishimura Clan (exiled for what he did in Bushido) and Fang (one of the mutates).

You can get the issue here, for one: [http://www.slgcomic.com/product-exec/product_id/630/nm/Gargoyles_Bad_Guys_1] It's really awesome spin off and if it's successful, Greg Weisman will bring us more, including the King Arthur spin off!

Following Gargoyles #8's March release, Bad Guys #2 should be out in April, then Gargoyles #9 in May, then Bad Guys #3 in June, etc...

So WildfireFox, there will be Gargoyles related entertainment each month and you don't have to wait! Isn't that awesome!?!

And after enjoying the comics, check out the episodes on DVD, available at Amazon.com!

Any chance of this leading to full blown episodes? I did really enjoy the old ones, but with new comics coming so infrequently, it's probably not likely, just wondering.</p>

RedHorse> Are you asking if this will lead to the full blown television episodes? It's highly unlikely since the comic has such a small cult following. If more people supported the comic, then Gargoyles could pull a Family Guy and come back from the dead fully, but having the comic is better than nothing at all.

Bad Guys #3 was released on 5/21! It's the best one yet!

Sad news my friends. The SLG license has expired on 8-31-08. That means there will be no more individual comic book issues on either Gargoyles or Bad Guys.

However, SLG does still have the right to put all existing material out in the Trade Paperback format. They are also allowed to include Bonus Material in these trades.

Gargoyles: Clan-Building, Volume One will remain available, and as soon as possible, we will be putting out Gargoyles: Clan-Building, Volume Two and Gargoyles: Bad Guys: Redemption out in trade.

Gargoyles: Clan-Building, Volume Two will include Gargoyles issues #7-8, but it will ALSO include what would have been issues #9-12, including the covers, as QUOTE-UNQUOTE Bonus Material. You WILL get to see the end of the Clan-Building arc. Currently, issue #9 is done except for a few minor lettering corrections. Issue #10 is being pencilled as we speak. Issue #11 has been scripted, and we are looking for the right artist to pencil it. Issue #12 is being scripted now. The trade will come out when ALL this material is complete and approved.

The Gargoyles: Bad Guys: Redemption trade will include Bad Guys issues #1-4, but it will ALSO include what would have been issues #5-6, including the covers, as QUOTE-UNQUOTE Bonus Material. You will get to see the end of the Redemption limited series. Currently, issue #5 is done except for a few minor art corrections and the lettering. Issue #6 is scripted, and Karine will begin roughing it out shortly. The trade will come out when ALL this material is complete and approved. (source: http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?rid=795)

I'll be back to post news once those two trades come out in the future. Thank you to everyone who bought the comics that were released, all of you that spread the word, and all of that continue to burn a flame in your hearts for Gargoyles.

Wait, So theres no more Gargoyles? Okay, i'm not familiar with all this legal business stuff. Can someone tell me why they can't put out more issues just cuz the license expired?

Slave Labor Graphics (SLG) was paying Disney to use the Gargoyles license. That license was required for SLG to print Gargoyles comics. That license expired 8/31/08 and SLG did not renew the license for Disney wanted too much money to renew it. Therefore, SLG will no longer be printing new Gargoyles content. SLG *will* be printing the trade paper backs with "Bonus Material."

For details on said Bonus Material, read my last post.
