Did you know? - The average US home is responsible for twice the greenhouse gas as the average US car...

Most everyone is aware of Global Warming now and advances are being made by scientists and governments worldwide. Australian and French engineers have designed cars powered solely by air giving the same performance as gas-guzzling cars. They just lack the support from profit-minded car-makers and Govt. to get this new technology available to consumers. Veggie-powered cars (Corn, Sugarcane, etc) still produce co2 emissions and Hydrogen vehicles still have the problem of an impractical and unrenewable energy source. These problems are not present for air vehicles making them the obvious and best choice. It's time for a paradigm shift!

Recently NBC aired GreenTV with shows written to raise awareness and having special Guest Stars like Al Gore. Fighting Global Warming may not be as hard as you think, it can be as easy as a flick-of-a-switch. If every home replaced just one light bulb with a Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb (ENERGY STAR qualified bulb or equivalent), we would prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars, save more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year.

CFL's reduce your electric bill. 10 times longer life than standard incandescent bulbs and using 75 percent less energy. In the US incandescent bulbs will be outlawed in 2012, 2010 in Australia.

CFL's are available most everywhere light bulbs are sold including Walmart, Walgreens, Home Depot, Lowes and Target. Why not make a switch? It takes only 18 seconds to install ([http://18seconds.org]). In 2007, more than 122 million CFL's were purchased in the US alone. Earth America loves these things. Let's all try and help out our Mother Earth. After all She's the only one we have.

Choosing a Green-Diet is good for the Earth. Yahoo has a huge list of actions to help the Earth that anyone can do. Yahoo recommends going meatless for one meal each week because Farms use more fossil fuels to raise and transport animals than plants.

Fact: Manufacturing bottled water uses over 1.5 million barrels of oil per year. In one year, thats enough oil to fuel 100,000 cars.

Americans generate 10.5 million tons of plastic waste a year but recycle only 1 or 2 % of it.

In Europe only 2.5% of plastic bottles are presently recycled.

SOLUTIONS:

-Use reusable bags when you do your shopping
-Rather than purchasing bottled water, filter your tap water, and use a stainless steel container for water on the go
-Buy food and beverages that are packaged in glass or metal containers

Marine trash, mainly plastic, is killing more than a million seabirds
and 100,000 mammals and sea turtles each year by ingestion and
entanglement.

Recently scientists discovered that microscopic pieces of plastic can
be found everywhere in the oceans, even inside plankton, the keystone
of the marine food chain.

Who wants to take the No Plastic Pledge? http://www.leonardodicaprio.org/pledge/

You have to remember 'global warming' is responible for ethonal which at the time it frist came out people actually believed it was better than gas. Turns out its only 'better' because farmers got kick back from the government to produce the stuff. Reusing is good, trying to scare people with global warming just creates worse situations (See: ethonal).

i agree, but for people who can't afford a car with E85 ethanol, the should either drive a really fuel efficient car like the Ford Focus, Scion XB, Chevy Aveo, etc., they can drive their bikes! i drive an extreemly fuel efficient car, but its not very big, but i still like it!

There is no global warming.

I hope you remember this statement when 10 years from now you'll realize this was just a cash/fear ploy :)

Ah where to start?
Where do you think the power comes to compress the air that runs these air powered cars? Just like hydrogen , compressed air is not a power source it is a storage and transmission medium. You still need a power source. I saw a program where some imbecile suggested that we use our cars to power our home electricity since the cars produce seven times as much energy in the US as power plants. Well , first they are very inefficient compared to power plants, but this brings up a second issue; if we go to plugin hybrids and fully electric vehicles or compressed air and hydrogen power how much will this increase our demand on the already overstressed electric grid???

I long since replaced all my incandescent lights with Flourescent and Compact fluorescent bulbs and my electric bill did not decrease at all. Top that off with the fact that they contain mercury and must be disposed as hazardous waste and do not last anywhere near as long as they claim (20% fail within a year or less ); In fact it continued to go up. More significant is the impact of appliances such as refrigerators and airconditioners. A ban on resale of older inefficient appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers would have a far greater effect as would a tax rebate on purchase of a new high efficiency product when you turn in the old one for recycling (they have a similar program in Texas for older cars; turn in a pre 96 gas guzzler and get $3000 voucher for purchasing a newer more efficient vehicle or $3500 if you go with a hybrid) .
Secondly we need to amend the national building codes and enforce them. We need to demand that "flippers" bring the property up to current code if there is more than a 10% increase in sale price. This should include new high efficiency insulation , air infiltration barriers , new high efficiency air conditioning, new plumbing and electrical.
Give home buyers a tax credit if they postepone movin and bring things up to the new code and mandate that all new construction meet stringent energy and water efficiency standards.

We know how to build cost effective houses where the increased cost of construction will be offset by the lowered energy usage. Water efficiency standards in the US are pitiful compared to those in other countries. Many mandate systems to reuse "grey" water from baths, laundry, etc to use in toilets and for watering lawns.

Oh yes, CFL are inefficient compared to the new LED lights. Unfortunately these are still a bit pricey and also not yet up to getting the light we are used to out of a single bulb. But at SAMs Club they now have Par 45 equivalent LED floodlights which use 3.5 Watts (for the equivalent light of a 45 watt bulb) at 2 for $15; and they have the 40 watt candelabra replacements (use 1.5 watt each) at 3 for $15. Life is expected to be something like thirty years. I already bought the FEIT LED C7 replacements (night light 7 watt output for 0.3 watt) and find them actually almost to bright ($3.99 for a pair at Walgreens) . Combine that with motion and light sensor technology and you have some true energy savings and no environmental dangers.

I found a good way to improve my gas mileage.
I recently bought new tires; and when I did I shopped around for Low Rolling Resistance (LRR) tires.
Without getting into brands or styles; these tend to have higher pressure (45 lbs instead of 35) so that you can air them up more and not overinflate (higher pressure means less flexing of the tire and less energy lost as heat and less energy needed to keep the tire rolling) ; they have tread designed to make less noise (it takes energy to make noise -sound is energy), often a slightly narrower footprint too.
Switching to these from my old overwide truck tires gave me a whopping 20% increase in mileage. Looks like the upgrade will pay for itself.

In 1998 they whole world just woke up stupid and turned the problem of Pollution in to the theory of Global Warming.

Geologic records show that every ice age is proceeded by massive influxes of greenhouse gasses, its a undeniable fact of biologic carbon based existence.
Food for thought: there have been 5 mass extinctions, the last of which was the K/T E.L.E 65 million years ago. We are exiting the sixth ice age and the most successful kingdoms throughout earth history have been Bacteria and Plants, both of which freaking love to chow down greenhouse gasses. Race you to Mars!
