...To when I was kid.
For me it was Star Wars in '77 (yeah, I'm a gaming geezer, too, and I have no plans of ever going into retirement :D), that feeling of excitement and possibilities and how leaning forward in a movie theater gets you not only a little closer to the action, but that much closer to your future.
But you put it so well in your review:
"That 8-year-old me in the movie theater sat yearning for the adult world to be as filled with adventure, discovery and importance as what I saw on screen. Well-situated in my 30s, content with good health and a paycheck, I pine nostalgically for when life still held that pre-adolescent potential. For the hours I played Uncharted 2 (http://g4tv.com/games/ps3/57025/uncharted-2-among-thieves/index/), those two selves were bridged in a wonderful equanimity, a digital compromise."
We all knew this game was going to be great. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune was the reason I bought a PS3. We also know from other reviews how well the game is being received.
Thank you for just giving us that much more in your comments...and putting ME back in my 8-year-old self.
