I've been think about my game library and I keep coming back to Mario Kart DS. Now next month it will be a 4 year old game which puts it in the range for a needed upgrade. The game's still tons of fun, but with all the new advances I think it is a good idea to have Mario Kart DS 2, or some other catchy subtitle that Nintendo is sure to come up with. I'd like to know what you think, but I'll also pose a question; would you be satisfied with just extended game play via the DSi, or would really just rather spend the money on a full new game?

I know what you mean, I've had the game since it came out and I really would like some new tracks to race. I don't have a DSi so I'd rather have a full game then just DC.

I want a price drop for the game. Jesus. It's been four years and the damn game still costs like $35? Lame.

yea i bought this game the day it came out for 30 bucks! still got it...best mario kart ever!

they need to make one for the dsi...race online with an avatar of ur face, voice chat, lots of new tracks/power ups...different characters from the nintendo universe. upgradeable karts (wheels for offroad, lighter cars, maybe exhaust) kart costomization...weather...motocycles. relay races. environment changes while racing....just to name a few...

unfortunately nintendo only makes one kart game per console. We can only hope maybe they can find some wii/dsiware expansion pack.

I could see adding some one like kirby to the kart series, but there's no way to fit in Samus or Link with out it being weird. The whole games connects into the mario universe alone, mainly by power ups. There's no need to up set that balance. and I can't see Nintendo letting us mess with the karts, but it would be nice if the would stop people from cheating on wifi, like spawning repeatably or finishing in a single lap.

Are you really sure you want a new DS Mario Kart? With so much time between each game there actually is noticeable advancement. Just look at sports games. Every year they have a new one out, and the advancements are hard to find year to year, only small changes are ever made. Yeah, if you skip 4 or 5 years you see changes, but year to year its basically same game, only die-hard enthusiast see the changes. Now with so many years between the Mario Kart games, there is real noticeable innovation.

I don't know about many other people, but I really enjoyed making my emblem for my kart. So to make it for the DSi they could use the camera to take a picture of a sign or pattern and the use it in your emblem or complete kart design. Everybody wins that way.

This could get bad, let me explain.
One, you're going to have someone that takes a picture of something copyrighted, and then you'll have more laywers then there are people on this world (everyone will want a piece of the nintendo pie)
Two, you know someone will take a picture of something either sexual in nature or extremely violent. Nintendo has always tried to be a family friendly company, yeah that won't go over well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a jerk, this just what I think.

you can do that now if you take the time, I've seen plenty of it. But with the DSi camera are you really going to see anything that clearly. I'm sure there would be a way around that.

I've taken a few pictures with my DSi camera, and granted its not the best camera on the market, it is still good enough to work. In short, yeah you will be able to see that stuff clearly.
