Project Natals tech is incredibly impressive and it does offer up interesting new ways to interact with digital media. That being said however I'm having a hard time seeing this applied to the current catagories of gaming even more so than the Wii and it's motion control. I was somewhat awestruck at the performance of Milo but besides more involving NPC interaction didn't see the usefulness of such a demo. Again I think this tech is unbelievably impressive and deserves major accolades but in all honesty I feel it will be very difficult to use effectively for some time. It will definately add to the experience but I'm not so certain it is the be all end all to E3.

I wanted to ask, do you think this sensor would be good enough to make a good martial arts game? I would LOVE to see a game that is focused on olympic Tae Kwon Do, Karate, or some kicking/striking martial art. If this thing can track as well as they say it can, then tracking kicks and strikes shouldn't be a problem. Not crappy little pre-scripted kicks either, but full on physics; the better the kick in real life, the more effective it's going to be. the faster you kick, the more impact it's going to make.

That, my friends, would be quite an epic game.

Might actually consider buying a 360 now. Weirdly enough even tho i hate the thought off paying for Xbox Live when I'm already paying internet. Even though they are in the overwhelming minority on this, I think the haters need to chill. I know it's your nature to dissent on pretty much anything (and very likely anything 360 related I'm guessing), it's the hater and fanboy code.
No it's not going to replace other games at all. Yes the other games will still be the major center of gaming, but this Proj Natal thing is so great because of the possibilities it conjures up in all our minds (if it works as great as it says). Facial and voice recognition? Mocap capabilities without a bunch of tiny white balls covering your body? Seriously, if you're not excited about the possibilities this could hold, then you're either retarded or just too blinded by your hater/fanboy ways to realize. Seriously, who thought something like this was even possible within this (or the next) decade before they showed it? That's right, pretty much no one, at least not on consoles.

the tech is damn cool...but the applications to gaming for the moment seem limited. I understand the "think of the potential" angle...but i'm trying to and all i can wonder is stuff like: how will it know when i want to shoot in an fps? would a racing game be at all fun pretending to hold a wheel/gearshift/etc? Wiimote as a wheel already exists and seems to be lacking...taking away the wheel only seems worse. Natal has to integrate with more traditional controls if you want any kind of 'hardcore' sophisticated game, otherwise it's doomed to a library along the lines of wii's party game stuff. I mean...riddle me this, how are you going to perform standard movement in a GTA or FPS type game? You have a limited range of detection (what the camera sees) do you just stand in place and fake-run in a certain direction?

Just because someone dislikes NATAL doesn't mean they are a hater. The main reason why is possibly that _we just don't like NATAL_. Many reasons may include: may increase the casual games market (which many of us don't want), it has potential, but it is limited too because not every game can be used by NATAL nor do we want it to, and NATAL generally is overhyped.

I don't hate microsoft, in fact, I love a bunch of their games (fable, halo...) Just I personally don't want a larger casual game market.

I want to see this with Real3D technology. I think it would be cook to use a REAL gun controller but have to dodge bullets flying out if the screen and real melée the **** out of bad guys. I'm personally more interested in the webcaming and sharing virtual items, and using my finger to select netflix and milo than a body motion Halo Party game.

I amazed by what was shown of Project NATAL. The Milo demo was breathtaking! But, I had a friend point out how HE can see Milo as being a bad idea. He said he can already see people getting SO emotionally involved with Milo, they'll genuinely forget reality. I think that THAT is a worst case scenerio, but after all is said and done, Milo is amazing.
Lionheads demo aside, I wasn't TO impresseed by what was shown. The target video is just that. A target, but nothing to impressive was demoed live. Neither was Milo, in all fairness.
But, after my mind cleared, I started thinking about the possibilites. Racing games (as shown off with the Burnout Paradise demo), FPS's (because, apparently NATAL can track individual fingers, so just "pull the trigger". I'm not ENTIRELY sure, so don't quote me on that :P), but what about action games? Or stealth games? Rockstar games? Manhunt?! NATAL WOULD become the worlds first murder simulator. The game would be a free-form execution sim. You'd make the motions, and make custom killings. Its disturbing to think of it, yet also slightly intriguing. IF it could be done, how would they make a game SO immersive fun? You KILL people, for crying out loud! Games such as GTA and Manhunt, would be even BIGGER targets for the media.
But, yeah, I'm rambling:P

I think I already mentioned NATAL can offer LIVE sexual experience on 3D, no need for them web cam teasers and phone sex agents, you can view, touch and in the future feel (by light ultrawaves off of Natal or by the yellow Jump suit shown on the Jimmy whatshislastname show) your intercourse.

Can be use to purchase and PLAY virtual playboy playmates or pr0n star, heck it will revolutionize pr0n (yes I've mention this before). This is the future. SOCIAL REGRESSION, it will be an awesome experience~ :toast:
